Venom 2: Woody Harrelson confirms sequel already in the pipeline

'I’m in a little fraction of this movie, but I’ll be in the next one'

With superhero movies currently dominating the box office – Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, and Deadpool 2 likely finishing the year as some of the top grossing movies worldwide – it should come as no surprise that every studio has jumped on the bandwagon.

While Sony are working with Marvel Studios on Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, the studio are also starting up their own superhero franchise: Venom. And while they have only announced one movie with Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson has confirmed that sequels are being worked on already.

Speaking to Collider, the actor said that Ruben Fleischer, director of Zombieland, was a big draw to the project, as was Hardy himself.

“I really respect and think he’s one of the great actors.” he said. ”So that, coupled with what is a really wonderful script, I felt like I kind of should, you know?”

Harrelson continued: “Roll of the dice, because I’m just... I’m in a little fraction of this movie, but I’ll be in the next one, you know? So I haven’t read that script, but anyways, just rolled the dice.”

Questioned further about who he plays in Venom, Harrelson remained coy: “I thought it was under wraps that I’m even in the movie.” Reports have previously circulated that Harrelson will play Carnage in the movie.

Venom – which reaches cinemas later this year – centres on the classic Spider-Man villain, although will not be related to the recent incarnation of that superhero, played by Tom Holland. The movie reaches cinemas 8 October.
