Kit Harington has snatched his name back out of the Next James Bond hat.

The Game of Thrones actor has been touted to replace Daniel Craig as 007 since playing the lead in 2015 spy caper Spooks: The Greater Good, but when asked by Digital Spy whether he’d consider the iconic role, his answer was a flat-out “not really, no”.

Harington said only last year that he did not consider his career established enough to play Bond, despite his turn as MI5 agent Will Holloway seeing him tackle an impressive array of stunts from smashing through a restaurant window and scaling high buildings Spider-Man-style to wrestling terrorists on rooftops.

“God, if they came to me I’d consider it, but I think I’m a little way off that,” the 28-year-old told the Evening Standard.

Poldark’s Aidan Turner and The Night Manager’s Tom Hiddleston are the favourites to take up the Bond baton with current best odds of 8/13 and 5/1 respectively.

Tom Hardy, Damian Lewis, Idris Elba and Henry Cavill have all been tipped, with Jamie Bell and John Boyega recently joining the list of possibles.

It remains unknown whether Craig will return for another Bond movie, but after saying that he would “rather slash his wrists” than return during a post-Spectre interview, pundits are presuming it unlikely.
