Zombieland: Official trailer

The first look at the sequel to Zombieland has arrived with news of an official title and casting addition.

Returning for the sequel are Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin and Jesse Eisenberg, who – according to Deadline – will now be joined by Rosario Dawson.

The original quartet can be seen replicating the original poster as part of the #10YearChallenge currently doing the rounds on social media – only since then, they’ve collectively earned multiple Oscar nominations – including Stone’s win for La La Land – as well as a sea of Golden Globe and Emmy nods.

Original filmmaker Ruben Fleischer, the man behind box office hit Venom, will direct the sequel that’s officially titled Zombieland: Double Tap.

The comedy-horror followed survivors of a zombie apocalypse who take a road trip in a bid to find a sanctuary. The theme park climax, the zany rules for survival upheld by the characters and one of the greatest cameos in cinema (two words: Bill Murray) all assisted in shrouding Zombieland with cult status.

This sequel will take the central characters from the White House to the American heartland as they face off against new variations of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors.

Zombieland: Double Tap will be released in October.
