It's odd that none of this distinguished British cast (including Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Tom Wilkinson and Bill Nighy) don't actually perspire in this Jaipur-set tale and the plotting is clunky and predictable, but it's refreshing to see a romantic comedy dominated by actors in late middle age.
Seven Brits, some nice, some less so, decide to spend their pensions on a stay at a shabby Rajasthan hotel, run by Dev Patel's eager manager, and inevitably end up bonding. A sweet, simple adaptation of Deborah Moggach's novel.
