Whether you like Walter Salles's admirably pretty (the landscape, the actors, the photography) adaptation of Jack Kerouac's rambling tale very much depends on whether you could stomach the Beat Generation classic. Sam Riley plays budding writer Sal who longs for "the purity of the road", while Kristen Stewart convinces as the damaged Marylou bewitched by the unhinged Dean.
