This sparky film is the latest teen flick to update a literary classic to the cheerleader-infested waters of an American high school.

Based on The Scarlet Letter, Easy A sees girl-next-door Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone) cover up a quiet weekend by telling her best friend she enjoyed the carnal company of an older guy. Her fib spreads like wildfire and soon Olive finds herself offering a service to the gays and geeks at school - letting them claim they have slept with her. Initially playing her new role with abandon, Olive quickly comes to realise a bad reputation isn't always a good thing. Funny, frank and a great vehicle for Stone, Easy A deserves a high grade.
