True story of how a probation officer coached the killers and gang-members at a California juvenile detention centre to success at American football, giving them self-worth and a reason to turn straight. It's all done efficiently and with dignity, and I include The Rock - listed as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, in recognition of the seriousness of the occasion - in the lead; but it's still horribly hackneyed. At the end, documentary footage reveals that some of the most spine-chilling clichés on display were taken from life, but by then the damage has been done.
