This year’s surprise hit comedy stars Mark Wahlberg as a slobbish slacker who lives with a magical talking teddy bear (voiced by the film’s writer-director, Seth MacFarlane).
The joke is that this sentient soft toy is a foul-mouthed, dope-smoking trouble-maker – but McFarlane is so pleased with this joke that he doesn’t bother to throw in a decent story, nor any punchlines that don’t rely on racism, sexism or homophobia.
