Little Manhattan (PG)

Little Manhattan is a junior romantic comedy about a 10-year-old boy New Yorker who falls for an older woman (she's 11) in his karate class. Several scenes are lifted in their entirety from Annie Hall and Play It Again, Sam, but as Woody Allen imitations go, it's one of the more accomplished ones. It's difficult to see who it's aimed at, however.

The hero's voice-over is tinged with the nostalgic awe and world-weary irony of a 40-year-old looking back at his childhood, not a 10-year-old looking back at his summer, so neither youngsters nor adults will identify with him. Little Manhattan could have a little audience.
