Orphan (15), Jaume Collet-Serra (123 mins)
For about 40 minutes, this domestic psycho-thriller is pretty good, with Jaume Collet-Serra subverting some favourite horror tropes.
A couple recovering from the loss of their unborn child decide to adopt, though they already have a daughter and son. The girl they decide upon is polite, with a poignant backstory. Too bad that she turns out to be the embodiment of pure evil. A squall of improbabilities leads to a laughable late revelation, yet somehow the film keeps a clammy grip.
