Overwrought, steeped in cliché, Dan Turner's drama about a troubled young boxer nonetheless has enough raw energy to atone for its utterly derivative storyline.
Ashley "Bashy" Thomas plays Clayton, the fighter who loathes his imprisoned gangster father but can't escape the shadow the father's violent past casts over him.
Peter Mullan excels as Clayton's equally tormented trainer while Michelle Ryan brings plenty of conviction to her role as the trainer's even more tormented drug-addict daughter.
