The nightmare of people trafficking is savagely exposed in Steve Hudson's story of maritime misadventure. Scots boathand Sean (Martin Compston) wants to save his father's failing trawler from repossession, so reluctantly agrees to do some smuggling from Belgium – he's looking for black-market cigarettes but instead gets a crew of Chinese immigrants, whom he hides in the hold. Peter Mullan plays a cocky crewman.

Choppy seas and agonising guilt storm through an almost Conradian tale of moral delinquency, kept afloat by excellent performances.
