The NYPD insisted on making Harvey Weinstein do a perp walk when he was arrested, an official saying: "This guy doesn’t get to hide from the cameras."

If this ignominy weren't enough, Weinstein has also been given an unflattering courtroom sketch, stomach bulging as he's led by officers with his arms behind his back.

It was drawn by artist Jane Rosenberg, who has priors in this regard, her rather facially severe sketch of NFL player Tom Brady at a public hearing having previously gone viral a couple of years ago.

Interviewed after the sketch became a meme, Rosenberg said of her sketches: "I don’t tend to flatter people and make them look beautiful."

Rosenberg's Lucian Freud-esque portrait, described as "unforgiving" and "grotesque" and making him look like "a large toad" on Twitter, is a world away from that of another sketch artist present, Elizabeth Williams, who clearly saw the moment very differently.

Weinstein, who has previously denied all accusations, was charged on Friday morning with four offences including rape and a criminal sex act on two women, after months of sexual abuse allegations.

He did not enter a plea, which is common at this stage of proceedings, but the 66-year-old's lawyer told reporters he was likely to plead not guilty. He has previously denied the allegations.

Miramax co-founder and producer Weinstein has been accused of allegations ranging from rape to sexual harassment by over 50 women.

In the past, he has said that his actions "caused a lot of pain" but has claimed many of the accusations were "patently false."
