Letter: A coward's war

Sir: It is not often that I am in agreement with Robert Fisk, but he has come to the right conclusion out of the horror of Kosovo.

I don't believe Nato should be dissolved as such; instead, the United States should simply withdraw. The US is not a European nation, even if most of us are of European descent. Most Argentines are also of European extraction, yet no one argues they should be part of the solution to European problems.

But remember, no US means no cruise missiles, no B-52 bombers, no "stealth" aircraft, no depleted uranium anti-tank rounds. So if in future you want to intervene somewhere, you won't always have the option of throwing in endless amounts of expensive weaponry in lieu of your sons and daughters.
