Sir: I'm glad that cosmetic tests on animals have been stopped, but we shouldn't think that animals are all right now.

Only a tiny fraction of animal experiments were for cosmetics. Most were for household products, poisonous farming chemicals, warfare and medical drugs.

Testing human drugs on animals can give unreliable results. There are now more reliable tests such as computer modelling and human tissue culture.
