Letter: Bible belt
Sir: The book of Job has surely been misunderstood by atheists and Christians alike. It is plainly a satirical work. Job mocks the idea that God rewards the righteous on earth. By implication, it attacks the notion that the rich are more virtuous than the poor. To treat it as a serious religious text is to miss the point entirely.
