Letter: Getting there by car

Sir: David Aaronovitch (Comment, 19 November) agrees with the AA that one can't cycle eight miles to work. Why on earth not? Why not arrive more alert, less stressed and on time? Why not avoid heart attack and obesity? And why is it that supporters of the status quo are usually male and middle-aged?
