Letter: Heated debate
Sir: The most efficient way of saving energy is to put cooking foil behind radiators. The pay-off time is about 10 months.
For a properly maintained home, retro-fitting of double glazing will never pay off. The energy involved in its production, fitting and maintenance exceeds the energy savings. And to fit metal-framed double glazing can, in many cases, increase energy consumption by heat conduction through the metal.
