Sir: Current technology could solve the problem of vehicle speed control (letters, 22, 23, 24, 27, 29 September). Engines could be fitted with governors that prevented cars from exceeding the limit for a particular road, signalled to the governors by transponders mounted on mobile phone transmitter towers. Road casualties could also be reduced by two zero- technology solutions - common sense and consideration for other drivers and pedestrians.
