Letter: Lucky Wales
Sir: Your perceptive article by Donald Macintyre (Comment, 22 February) on the leadership of the new Welsh Assembly included the passing observation that Mr Blair has the right to appoint bishops, Regius professors, BBC chairmen and goodness knows who else. Not in Wales, of course. Our only Regius professors and politically appointed bishops are those who have retired from across the border where - at least in episcopal appointments - you're 80 years behind!
ROBERT M E PATERSON.
Cowbridge,
Vale of Glamorgan.
