Letter: Non-violent men

Sir: I have been reading with ever increasing incredulity your reporting on the topic of women who are victims of violent men.

I have a zero tolerance of violence against women. Men who hit women are both bullies and cowards. My opinion is shared by the vast majority of men I know and I must protest at the emotive reporting on the topic which is leaning towards the view that all men are rapists and women-beaters, given the opportunity.

Paul Gascoigne's behaviour had been well documented before Sheryl began her relationship with him and I doubt very much that she expected to change him. Glenda Jackson's admission that she has "never been in a relationship with a man in which he hasn't raised his fist to me" speaks primarily of Ms Jackson's poor judgement in picking lovers.

Please avoid grouping the innocent majority with the contemptible minority.
