Letter: Prince's privilege

Sir: Ironic, isn't it, that Ruth Lea, head of policy at the Institute of Directors, supports Prince Edward's complaint that entrepreneurs receive insufficient recognition in the UK with the sentiment that "too many people are just waiting for him to fail" ("Loss-making Earl attacks British press", 3 September).

The fundamental reason for such resentment, Ms Lea, is that our society is deeply iniquitous, with staggering rewards available for a privileged few who contribute little, and a pitiful stipend for many, many others whose worth is so much greater and who deserve so much more.

Would it be unreasonable to include in the former category numerous members of the Prince's social class and close family, and many of his colleagues in the media?
