Letter: Stamp out high prices
Sir: It costs 1.10 marks to post a letter from Hanover to Munich. It costs the same to post a letter from Hanover to London. It costs 3 francs to post from Paris to Marseilles. It costs the same to post from Paris to London. As R E Bell points out (Letter, 16 December) we used to pay the UK rate when we posted to Paris. Then it went to 30p, then to 34p, now 36p. Is the Post Office insensitive to the symbolism? In Europe, but no nonsense about community and co-operation.
