Letter: Why circumcise?
Sir: I seem to have opened a rare can of worms with my thoughts on the advantages of circumcision. I must reassure Mr Bishop (letter, 24 September) that I am more than satisfied with my partner's penis and am not planning to look at any more.
It has been proven that there is far less risk of cervical cancer for women whose partners are circumcised. There are very few cases of the disease in Islamic countries. The point of my letter was to suggest that there is no reason for surgeons to refuse this operation and that, particularly from a cleanliness point of view, there are many advantages. If your male correspondents are happy with their foreskinned members, may they stand up and wear them with pride.
