ENGLISH HERITAGE's annual summer season of open-air Sunday evening concerts at Marble Hill House, Twickenham, begins tomorrow. Less familiar than the longer established series at Kenwood, Marble Hill offers the same variety of music - from brass bands through jazz and symphony orchestras to complete operas - plus the unique Thames-side setting.

English Heritage is offering discounts of up to 45 per cent exclusively to Independent readers on the following seven concerts:

Tomorrow Columbus 500: The American Connection To celebrate Columbus' voyage, music from the New World by Dvorak, Ives, Gershwin (Piano Concerto, soloist Alvin Moisey) and Wagner (American Centennial March, with fireworks). Howard Snell conducts the Royal Philharmonic Pops.

Sun 19 July JVC/Capital Radio Jazz on a Summer's Day A tribute to Dizzy Gillespie from the Dizzy Gillespie Band. Plus the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and Newport Jazz Festival All-Stars.

Sun 26 July Students, Monks and Red Indians Choral spectacular: Orff's Carmina Burana and Coleridge-Taylor's Hiawatha's Wedding Feast. Laszlo Heltay conducts the Wren Orchestra and Royal Choral Society. With fireworks.

Sun 2 Aug Five English Classics RVW's Wasps, dances by Arnold and Bliss, Elgar's Cello Concerto (soloist Alexander Baillie) and Walton's crashing Crown Imperial, with fireworks. Ulster Orch / Bramwell Tovey.

Sun 16 Aug La Boheme Arthur Davies, Jane Eaglen, Lesley Garrett and Jonathan Summers star in a concert performance of Puccini's Parisian tear-jerker. Mark Elder conducts ENO forces.

Sun 23 Aug Evergreens from Stage and Screen The legendary John Foster Black Dyke Mills and Yorkshire Imperial bands, plus vocalists, with brass arrangements of everything operatic from Fledermaus and The Magic Flute to Carmen and 'The Ride of the Valkyries' with fireworks.

Sun 30 Aug Columbus 500: Music from the Mediterranean 13-year-old Vanessa Mae plays a Paganini Violin Concerto, plus Spanish pieces by Rimsky- Korsakov, Waldteufel, Bizet and Ravel (Bolero) complete with flamenco dancers and fireworks. National SO / Anthony Hose.
