SOMEBODY at the Highbury Festival, in north London, must have had premonitions: they have slipped in a concert of local forces under the LSO's conductor-elect Sir Colin Davis. It's unusual indeed to see musicians of this stature working in 'neighbourhood' surroundings. This concert (at Christ Church on 17 June, in aid of the National Children's Home) includes a Haydn symphony, the Mozart Coronation Mass, and a new piece by the festival's artistic director Scott Stroman.

Then again, the whole event has expanded rapidly from last year's start. Jazz and rock, black music and British folk, rub shoulders with chamber and contemporary concerts and a male voice choir from Wales. Opening night 11 June; box-office 071-704 2165.
