Max Weinberg drumming for Bruce Springsteen. His son Jay will be taking his place for Bruce's set at Glastonbury

Bruce Springsteen's drummer Max Weinberg is unable to perform at Glastonbury this weekend due to prior commitments with the house band at the Conan O'Brian Show. His son Jay is stepping into the breach as his replacement for the gig.

In honour of this monumental case of rock star child bailing out rock star parent, we've compiled a gallery of musically talented rock'n'roll offspring.

pretty trivial, mostly. So why no Woody and Arlo Guthrie?
The list should ruthlessly exclude progeny wth no talent who only get noticed because of their lineage. Starting with Iglesias.
Not how you do - but who you are?

One would expect some of these kids to at least be able to play and sing... pop music isn't too complicated, and if you've grown up around it and paid attention it should be no big deal.

How many of these folks would be getting ahead in music, without their family and industry connections and advantages, is another question. Not so well I would say... and I wonder how many really creative original talents are lost to the formulae and templates that make up most popular music today.

Still, leaning on your parents to get ahead - not that their is anything wrong with that :-) - is a time honoured establishment tradition.
