Atlanta rockers Deerhunter hit a five-day winning streak as the most popular act in the blogosphere according to The Hype Machine, October 5. Rapper Kanye West and DJ duo Duck Sauce hold their spots in second and third place, while Brooklyn's Small Black and French DJs Daft Punk climb into the top ten.

In sixth place is Small Black, a Brooklyn indie noise-pop group led by Ryan Heyner and Josh Kolenik. A few days before launching a North American tour, the band just released a new track, "Search Party," from its upcoming debut album, New Chain, due out October 26. The track "again finds Small Black throwing the kitchen sink of brooding swoops and blips into the echo chamber that is [Kolenik's] vocals," reviews Impose (www.imposemagazine.com). "It's a concrete dance track for sure, but somehow comes off sounding like a dream."

Also new in the day's top ten is French house DJ duo Daft Punk, consisting of Guy-Manuel de Homen-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The two recently composed the film score to the upcoming Tron: Legacy, scheduled for release on December 17 in North America and the sequel to 1982's Tron. Bloggers are circulating a sample of one of the songs reportedly from the soundtrack (officially set to release on November 22), although some remain cautious after fake songs said to be from the soundtrack were passed around this summer. "This little snippet rings way more true to the DP sound than those other little poser clips floating around a few months back," writes The Wet Blog (thewetblog.tumblr.com). "But these few seconds get my blood a-flowin' and my limbs a-dancin' in true DP style."
