Of all the the late-Sixties country-rock bands, Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen were arguably the least purist.

But they managed to make the most authentic-sounding honky-tonk music of their era. Covering the period leading up to their debut album Lost In The Ozone, this 2CD set includes stoned late-night jam sessions, rehearsals and live recordings.

It’s a rumbustious collection of hopped-up covers – featuring Little Richard, Leiber & Stoller and Otis Redding material – with band originals, most notably “What’s The Matter Now?” and the feverish white-line anthem “Semi-Truck”.
