BTS singer Jungkook ‘deeply regretful’ for breaking social distancing regulations after testing negative for coronavirus
Singer was one of several K-pop stars who reportedly visited a restaurant and bar in Seoul’s Itaewon neighbourhood
BTS singer Jungkook is “deeply regretful” for ignoring social distancing guidelines when he reportedly visited a restaurant and bar in Seoul, South Korea.
South Korean media reports that the boy band star tested negative for coronavirus along with several other K-pop stars, according to Big Hit Entertainment.
The entertainment company said via K-pop website Soompi: ”The artist himself is currently feeling deeply regretful for not having faithfully contributed to the entire society’s social distancing efforts.”
“Jungkook visited a restaurant and bar in the neighbourhood of Itaewon with his acquaintances," the statement reads.
“He showed no symptoms of Covid-19 such as coughing or a fever following the visit. He voluntarily received a test for Covid-19 at a government-designated hospital and tested negative.”
NCT 127’s Jaehyun, SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu and ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo also tested negative for coronavirus, following media reports of a night out in Seoul’s upmarket neighbourhood of Itaewon in late April.
It was not confirmed whether the artists were partying as a single group.
BTS were recently forced to cancel their entire 2020 tour due to the ongoing pandemic. Concerts in Japan were due to take place across June, July, August and September, while the European dates in London, Rotterdam, Barcelona and Berlin were set for July.
A statement concerning the European shows was released by Big Hit Entertainment via Ticketmaster UK.
“Our highest priority remains the safety of our artists and fans as well as the global community,” the statement read. “We ask for your generous understanding that this decision has been made in consideration of the safety and health of everyone involved.
“We look forward to seeing you all in the future.”
