Dita Von Teese has responded to the allegations of abuse against her ex-husband Marilyn Manson.

On Monday 1 February, Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood issued a public statement alleging that the musician groomed and abused her “for years”.

Following Wood’s statement, several other women have come forward accusing Manson of similar offences. They also allege that they have suffered from PTSD, night terrors and OCD after their relationships with Manson ended.

Manson has denied the allegations, calling them “horrible distortions of reality”.

In a statement posted to her Instagram, burlesque performer Von Teese, who was married to the musician between 2005 and 2006, said she had not been abused by Manson.

“I have been processing the news that broke Monday regarding Marilyn Manson," the statement began. “To those who have expressed your concerns of my well-being, I appreciate your kindness."

“Please know that the details made public do not match my personal experience during our seven years together as a couple,” she continued. “Had they, I would not have married him in December 2005. I left 12 months later due to infidelity and drug abuse.”

She added: “Abuse of any kind has no place in any relationship. I urge those of you who have incurred abuse to take steps to heal and the strength to fully realise yourself.”

Von Teese concluded: “This is my sole statement on this matter. Thank you for respecting this request.”

Since the allegations came to light, Manson has been dropped by his record label and talent agency. He has also been axed from the TV series American Gods and Creepshow.
