Good news Foo Fighters fans – the US rock group will be coming to the UK as part of their Sonic Highways tour in May and June next year.

Dave Grohl and his band will play at four stadium venues in 2015: Stadium of Light in Sunderland on 25 May; Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on 27 May; Wembley Stadium in London on 19 and 20 June; and Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on 23 June.

Tickets for the gigs will go on general sale at 10am on 21 November, with a pre-sale on 19 November.

Iggy Pop and Royal Blood will be supporting on two dates which are yet to be confirmed.

Grohl praised the Brighton hard rock duo recently, telling NME that he was "excited to see a band that was heavy, had riffs, had songs and could really perform".

Pink Floyd's final album The Endless River is heading for number one on this week's UK album chart with Foo Fighters' Sonic Highways currently in second place.

Earlier this week, Grohl commented on speculation that the Foos will be playing next summer's Glastonbury Festival.

"[Emily Eavis] hasn't called – I have not gotten the call yet," he said. "Foo Fighters haven't been there since 1998, so er…and that's a fun festival."

However, Eavis said recently that she would "love" to see the band back at Glastonbury, adding that fans will "have to see".

Foo Fighters are among the bookies' favourites to headline the Somerset music event, with William Hill giving them odds of 8/11 after news that former favourites Fleetwood Mac are "unavailable" to perform.

Their UK tour dates do leave room for them to play Glastonbury, which takes place over the weekend of 24-28 June.
