Apple has announced its bestselling albums and songs of the year in a new feature on the iTunes Store called iTunes Rewind. Songs by Black-Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga were among chart-toppers in the US and UK, and the Kings of Leon album Only By the Night was the best-selling album on both the US and UK charts.

Among other top-sellers that made both lists were albums by Michael Jackson and Black-Eyes Peas.

"Right Round" by Flo Rida was the number-two song in the US, not making it onto the UK chart; other songs unique to the US chart are "Gives You Hell" by the All-American Rejects and two singles by Miley Cyrus. Top-sellers in the UK include singles by Cheryl Cole, La Roux, and Lily Allen.

In albums, US downloaders honed in on the Twilight soundtrack, as well as records by Taylor Smith, Dave Matthews, and The Frey. UK iTunes users went for albums by Lily Allen, The Prodigy, Florence + The Machine, and Beyoncé.
