Kate Bush pens open letter thanking fans for 'extraordinary' Before the Dawn shows
The singer thanked her audiences for taking her breath away night after night
Kate Bush has written on open letter to her fans, thanking them for giving her “one of the most extraordinary experiences” of her life during her comeback concerts.
The singer, who wrote the letter on her website, said she could never have “dreamed of” the audience reception she received during her Before the Dawn shows.
She added that although it was “quite a surreal journey” to return to the stage after 35 years away, she did it to have contact with an audience again.
“One of the main reasons for wanting to perform live again was to have contact with that audience. They took my breath away. Every single night they were so behind us. You could feel their support from the minute we walked on stage,” she wrote in an open letter titled "After the Dawn".

Show all 8“I just never imagined it would be possible to connect with an audience on such a powerful and intimate level; to feel such, well quite frankly, love. It was like this at every single show.
“Thank you so very much to everyone who came to the shows and became part of that shared experience. It was a truly special and wonderful feeling for all of us.”
The singer’s concerts received positive reviews across the board, with The Independent’s Andy Gill describing Bush’s comeback as “the most ambitious piece of theatrical pop ever seen on a British stage”.
But Bush has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the stage. In an interview with the BBC earlier this month she said it would be “a while” before she sings in front of a crowd again.
