Katy B scores first UK number one album with Little Red
Singer's second studio album debuts at top of the charts
Katy B has achieved her first number one album in the UK with second record Little Red.
The singer, from Peckham, South East London, has secured her first number one album three years after her chart debut.
The BRIT school graduate’s first album Katy B On A Mission peaked at number two on the UK Official Albums Chart in 2011.
Her follow-up studio album, which features Robbie Williams’ former producer Guy Chambers, is more melancholic with ballad-like hits such as “Crying for No Reason”, “Still” and “Emotions”.
The Independent criticised the album for its “dud lyrics”, but said Katy B still had the savvy and stamina of a “caner-come-good”.
The 24-year-old singer tweeted: “Aaaaah just heard #LittleRed is number 1!!! I’m over the moon!! Big hugs to everyone who’s supported it.”
She wrote later: “Thanks for all the congrats messages!! I’m well chuffed #LittleRed.”
Ellie Goulding's Halcyon came in at number two in the UK Official Albums Chart, while London Grammar's If You Want climbed one place to third.
Beyonce and Avicii completed the top five, in fourth and fifth place respectively.
