Kendrick Lamar has paid homage to his hometown of Compton in the new music video for rumoured next single “King Kunta”.
The Californian hip-hop artist revealed the clip on the Beats billboard in New York’s Time Square yesterday evening, as fans gathered on the sidewalk to watch it.
Lamar is seen driving through the Los Angeles County city, with some scenes filmed at the famous Compton Swap Meet discount store. His awesome dancing is back for this upbeat track and he’s enlisted the help of some homies, cool cars and motorbikes.
Lamar has promoted bestselling new album To Pimp A Butterfly before, when he performing a gig on a moving truck down LA’s Sunset Boulevard last week.
Lamar told DJs recently that he worked with Prince in his Minneapolis recording studio but there was not enough time for them to complete collaboration.
“We was in the studio and we was vibing but we was pressed...for time,” he told Hot 97 radio station.
“He was breaking down some things that I need to consider in my career, just really taking control of your creativity. He gave me some real jewels about that.”
