At least 50 people are dead and hundreds more injured following a mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival.

Located on the Las Vegas Strip near the Mandalay Bay hotel, many famous faces from the country music world had played over the 30,000 capacity festival weekend.

Sunday headliner Jason Aldean — best known for the multi-platinum album My Kinda Party — was performing when the incident took place.

A video has emerged of the singer, who has been confirmed safe, stopping playing midway through a song as shots are heard in the background.

Route 91 Harvest’s other headliners include Sam Hunt, a singer-songwriter whose song ‘Body Like A Backroad’ has notched 205 million plays on Spotify alone, and Eric Church, who has six albums, two of which have sold over a million copies.

Jake Owen also performed at the festival, writing on social media: “Praying for everyone here in Vegas. I witnessed the most unimaginable event tonight. We are okay. Others aren't. Please pray.”

Maren Morris, best known for the album Hero, and Brothers Osbourne were also on the line-up. The latter tweeted: “Just hearing about active shooting at Route 91 Festival in Vegas. Take cover and get safe immediately! Prayers to everyone there.”

Other performers included Lee Brice, Big & Rich, Kane Brown, Michael Ray, Lauren Alaina, and Brett Young. This was the fourth time the Route 91 festival was held in Las Vegas.
