On Friday, the most blogged artists according to The Hype Machine are French alternative rock band Phoenix, Baltimore-based indie duo Beach House, and Canadian electronic artist Caribou. Also making waves today are Brooklyn experimental rock band Yeasayer and British post-rock/electronic musician Four Tet.
Yeasayer first came to widespread attention after playing at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas in 2007. The band's sophomore album, Odd Blood, is due out February 9, and on January 28 the band released the single "O.N.E." from that album. Music blog The Tape (thetapeisnotsticky.com) calls the track "as funky as it is intelligent and melodic."
Four Tet is the moniker for British musician Kieran Hebden, who played with post-rock band Fridge before branching out as a solo artist. Known for both his original materials and remixes, he released his album There is Love in You on January 25. Synthetic Sound (syntheticsound.blogspot.com) calls it "an atmospheric electronic record featuring washed out backgrounds, stuttering beats, and otherworldly samples....a great folktronica album."
