Mumford & Sons' get Glastonbury boost as 'Babel' climbs back to number one
Show all 4Mumford & Sons have climbed 15 places in the UK Official Albums Chart to reach the number one spot again with their album Babel.
The band’s performance last weekend at Glastonbury boosted the sales of the record, which has been in the charts for 41 weeks.
It is the third non-consecutive time the album has made it to the number one slot.
But despite the 384 per cent increase in sales in the two days following the festival, Babel only narrowly beat Michael Bublé’s To Be Loved to the top spot by just 125 copies.
Other artists to benefit from post-Glastonbury sales include headliners Arctic Monkeys, whose 2006 debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not reached number 15, while The Rolling Stones’ GRRR! climbed 29 placed to number 20.
Mumford & Sons’ debut album Sigh No More released in 2009 has also re-entered the top 20 at number 12.
Last week’s chart topper Tom Odell slid down to number three with his debut album Long Way Down, while Jake Bugg, who also played at Glastonbury, climbed one place to number four.
Editors’ The Weight of Your Love, Duckworth Lewis Method’s Sticky Wickets and Deap Vally’s Sistrionix made new entries to this week’s Official Albums Chart at number six, 32 and 38 respectively.
‘Love Me Again’, the debut single from Rudimental collaborator John Newman, topped the Official Singles Chart.
