Tributes to the late Prince have been pouring in since his death on the 21 April. Highlights have included Bruce Springsteen’s cover of “Purple Rain”, SNL posting the footage from an hour long Prince concert, and The Simpsons’ executive producer posting snippets of a script featuring the purple icon.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, D’Angelo paid tribute by covering "Sometimes It Snows April" on piano with Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum.

At one point in the performance, the R&B singer takes a moment out, visibly upset. At that moment, the lyrics are changed from “I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy's there”, to “I often dream of heaven and I know that Prince is dead”.

After the performance, Questlove Tweeted out his thanks to the Fallon staff for ‘letting that happen’.

It was the second tribute to Prince on the show, following on from a night in which Fallon told a story about how he got beaten by Prince in a game of ping pong.
