Live Around the World: Queen and Adam Lambert to release first album together

Supergroup have toured the world together since 2014

Queen and Adam Lambert are releasing their first live album together this autumn.

The “Bohemian Rhapsody” band have collaborated with former American Idol finalist Lambert since 2011, and they went on to tour the world together in 2014.

Now, original Queen members Roger Taylor and Brian May are to release their first album with Lambert, it was announced on Friday (21 August).

The record, titled Live Around the World, will be released on October 2 and will feature live performances selected from the 218 live shows the group have performed across 42 countries over the past seven years.

Sharing the news on Instagram, guitarist May wrote: “It’s been hard keeping this a secret!!! An immense amount of work has gone into this live compilation from our brilliant team.

“The tracks have been chosen from our shows literally all around the world over the last few years – and the vision and sound mixes perfected and blended to make a seamless one-off dream QAL show.”

The final segment of Live Around the World will feature a special performance from Firefight Australia’s February 2020 benefit concert, in which the band recreated the infamous complete 22-minute set performed with Freddie Mercury at Live Aid 1985.

“These are dreams of futures past,” May wrote. “Visions of a live show world which may or may not ever be possible again.”

Queen + Adam Lambert had been scheduled to tour the UK and Europe in 2020, but were forced to postpone the dates until next summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“When we couldn’t tour this year we wanted to give the fans something in place of that, and a Live album just felt right,” Lambert said.

“It’s the first time we have released an album together and we have had a lot of fun putting it together, picking out favourite performances over the past seven years.”
