Shia LaBeouf and Margaret Qualley appear nude in experimental music video for Rainsford
Pair play a couple who experience sex, joy and turmoil over the course of 10 minutes
Shia LaBeouf and Margaret Qualley both appear nude in a new experimental music video.
In the video for Rainsford’s “Love Me Like You Hate Me”, the actors depict full-frontal nudity while playing a couple who experience joy, sex and turmoil over the course of a handful of minutes.
Rainsford is the musical name for Qualley’s sister Rainey – both are the daughters of actor Andie MacDowell.
The video was produced by Luke Turner, a British artist who has collaborated with LaBeouf on a number of high-profile projects in recent years.
Those include a 2016 live project in which LaBeouf interacted with members of the public in an Oxford lift for 24 hours, and a project a year earlier that saw him watch all of his own films in a New York cinema one after another.
“The 10-minute split-screen film portrays the tenderness and toxicity of a relationship, presented from the dual, and at times conflicting, perspectives of a couple,” a “Love Me Like You Hate Me” press release declares.
It continues: “With a gently disorientating structure, the piece builds towards an open-ended resolution that loops back on itself, returning us to where we began.”
Qualley, who was one of the standouts in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was formerly a dancer and choreographed a number of videos by musician Cashmere Cat. She also performed elaborate choreography in a 2017 advert for fashion house Kenzo, which was directed by Spike Jonze.
LaBeouf is also no stranger to music videos, famously appearing alongside dancer Maddie Ziegler in the video for Sia’s “Elastic Heart”.
The full video for Rainsford’s “Love Me Like You Hate Me”, which includes simulated sex and graphic nudity, can be viewed here.
