Weekly US music releases: Scott Pilgrim’s band and more soundtracks

On August 10, while the music business gears up for fall releases, the film industry opens summer blockbusters with accompanying soundtracks. The three this week include
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, featuring Michael Cera on vocals. The film is due in North American theaters next weekend.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
This hefty 19-track compilation, from the film based on the Scott Pilgrim comic book, features four new songs and instrumentation by Beck for the story's garage band, Sex Bob-omb - plus his own version of "Ramona." Also included are songs from Broken Social Scene, The Bluetones, Metric's disco-rock "Black Sheep," and Plumtree's "Scott Pilgrim" - the song that inspired comic creator Bryan Lee O'Malley to name his series. Composer John Debney ( Iron Man 2, Passion of the Christ, Sin City) is behind the score for the sci-fi horror film from Robert Rodriguez with Adrien Brody which released in July.
