Stars in their eyes
Given all the fuss there was about the recent release of Executions - a snuff video, but one made by people who, according to someone who met them, really are intelligent liberals and genuinely concerned to fight against capital punishment - there was not much publicity left over for The Serial Killers (Video Gems pounds 10.99). The press release pleads that the video "does not glorify the crime, nor the criminal". Yeah, right: so that's why the back of the sleeve has photos of two murderers and their lovable nicknames - "The Monster of the Rivers" and "Harv the Hammer". It's basically a "unique and exclusive" set of interviews with six killers, some of them facing the chair (left), with a few comments from police, legal experts, and relatives of victims. Exploitative? Heavens no: "it explains why these horrendous events took place and what could have been done to stop them". One thing that could be done: stop the gutter media taking such a lascivious interest in the "glamour" of killing.
