​Donald Trump’s attorney reportedly arranged a $130,000 (£95,000) payment to a former porn star as part of a deal to silence her about an alleged sexual encounter with Mr Trump.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Michael Cohen arranged the payment to porn star Stormy Daniels in October 2016 on the condition that she signed a non-disclosure agreement.

The alleged sexual encounter between Ms Daniels and Mr Trump took place after a Lake Tahoe Celebrity Golf Tournament - just one year after Mr Trump married his wife, Melania

But since the news broke, you might be wondering: who is Stormy Daniels?

Born Stephanie Gregory Clifford, Ms Daniels is a former adult film actress, screenwriter and director who began her career as a stripper aged 17 and entered the world of porn in 2000.

Her stage name is inspired by the name Nikki Sixx of the Mötley Crüe gave his daughter, Storm, and a Jack Daniel’s advertisement.

Ms Daniels has received an Adult Video News award and been a contract star for porn powerhouse Wicked Pictures. Some of her most notable films include Space Nuts, Good Will Humping, Porking with Pride #2, Spreading My Seed and Ron Jeremy on the Loose: Atlantic City. She has starred in over 150 adult films and even appeared in mainstream feature films The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up.

In 2009, Ms Daniels announced she was potentially running for the Senate in Louisiana until she was arrested for a domestic violence charge two months later in Tampa, Florida.

She allegedly hit her then-husband Michael Mosny several times after getting upset at “how the clothes had been done” and became more “upset about some bills that hadn’t been paid".

Two years later, she received a restraining order against Mr Mosny after he allegedly attacked her and attempted to steal her car. They are now divorced.

Ms Daniels has a six-year-old daughter with partner Glendon Crain.
