Ian Jones and Colin Smith (Barbican Concourse Gallery, 071-638 4141, to 23 May). Big pictures by two of our best painters. The self-mocking Jones looks at the world through his new car, finding grim humour. Smith concentrates on interiors, finding more awful things as he peers into his wardrobe.

Paintings from the Bowes Museum (National Gallery, 071-839 3321, to 20 June). Another show from a temporarily closed museum, featuring El Greco, Boucher, Goya and Courbet. In the Sunley Room, so admission free.

Classics from the Collection (Ben Uri Gallery, 071-437 2852, Tues to 22 May). Rare chance to see historic Jewish pictures from the gallery's holdings. Works by Simeon Solomon, Gertler, Bomberg, Epstein, etc. Look out for the Germans Max Liebermann and Ludwig Meidner.
