The Sunday Preview: Opera & Concerts

Cheltenham Festival (0242 227979, all week). The opening week is overwhelmed with first performances, from a David Blake cello concerto tonight to a Nigel Osborne clarinet trio on Sat. Most of the new music, though, comes from this year's featured composer Michael Berkeley, whose opera of remembered adolescent trauma, Baa Baa Black Sheep, plays Wed & Fri.

Nash Ensemble (Wigmore Hall, 071- 935 2141, Tues). Music and landscape reconsidered, in a thematic programme that includes the London premiere of David Matthews's extended song setting The Sleeping Lord.

Don Giovanni (ROH, 071-240 1066, from Tues). The return of Johannes Schaaf's chicly sensual production, with Tom Allen, Claudio Desderi and a fully frontal supper service. As seen on television.

The Secret Marriage (Cheltenham Everyman, 0242 227979, Thurs & Sat). Cimarosa's frothy comedy in a new Jonathan Miller production that plays Cheltenham before it slots into the Buxton Festival.
