Anton Raphael Mengs (Kenwood House, 081-348 1286, to 12 Sept). Rare show of the once famous German-

Italian Neo-classicist.

Tradition and Revolution in French Art (National Gallery, 071-839 3321, to 11 July). Pictures from the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Lille, including David, Delacroix and Courbet. Last week.

Paris Post War (Tate Gallery, 071-821 1313, to 5 Sept). Existentialist art from Wols, Dubuffet, Giacometti, Richier and others. Gloomy but interesting.

Summer Exhibition (Royal Academy, 071-439 7438, to 15 Aug). No artist quite at their best, but something for everyone in the annual ritual.

Tony Bevan (Whitechapel, 071-377 5015, to 11 July). Deceptively plain figurative paintings by an artist hailed as the new Freud. Last week.
