Choreographers love San Francisco Ballet. In-demand names such as Mark Morris and Christopher Wheeldon regularly return to create work for this sunny, adventurous company.

This season includes a whopping eight ballets made for the company, plus Balanchine's Divertimento No 15, a tutu classic danced to Mozart. Across three programmes, there are three Wheeldon ballets here: the bright Number Nine, the atmospheric Ghosts and Within the Golden Hour, to music by Vivaldi and Ezio Bosso. Morris is represented by the all-male Beaux, in costumes by fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi.

Yuri Possokhov, the company's choreographer in residence, provides the multi-media RAkU, based on the story of the burning of Kyoto's Golden Pavilion, and a staging of Prokofiev's Classical Symphony.

Ashley Page's Guide to Strange Places is danced to a John Adams score, while Trio, by company director Helgi Tomasson, is danced to Tchaikovsky.
