Anything Goes for record-breaker Jerry as she appears in six West End plays in one night

As one of the world's most successful models, she was used to one or two quick changes. But Jerry Hall's career on the catwalk would have done little to prepare her for her latest fast-moving assignment.

After surprising theatre critics with the quality of her acting as Mrs Robinson in The Graduate , the focus this week was on the quantity of her performances when she appeared in six West End shows in one night.

The Texan set a new world record by dashing across London on a motorbike to appear in six shows in under three hours.

Hall, 47, donned outfits ranging from a shabby hooker's costume to a peasant woman's shawl for her record attempt. She agreed to take up Tuesday evening's challenge to promote the theatre industry in London.

After her first appearance as a well-dressed bidder in the opening auction scene in Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre in Haymarket, she looked decidedly dishevelled as she mounted a courier bike in a ragged skirt and bustier for a spot as a "lady of the night" in Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre.

She then sped on to Fame to appear as a dance teacher, followed by a cameo as a housewife in Blood Brothers and a wealthy passenger on a ship in Anything Goes . Her mission finished at 10.18pm at the London Palladium, where she was cheered after playing a "Vulgarian" in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang .

After her final performance Hall said: "The best thing is, I get to put six West End plays in my resumé."

She said her favourite role had been in Anything Goes because she loved the song in which she featured, "Blow Gabriel Blow".

Her progress through the evening was tracked by two Guinness World Records representatives, who required video and photographic evidence of each performance, as well as a signature from each stage manager to verify that she appeared in the show.
